My Lizard
On Saturday the 26, 2009, I got a Crested Gecko for Christmas. My brother got one too. Mine is greenish-brown with a white stripe down the middle and on to it's tail. My brother's is all orange with a few black spots. I do not have a good name for my Crested Gecko, so if you have name suggestions, please comment on this post! A fun fact about Crested Geckos is that the do not have eye lids so they lick their eyes instead. The only way you can tell if they are asleep is if the black part of their eyes is just the size of a silt. One nickname for Crested Geckos is, Eyelash Geckos - they actually have eyelashes. You can also feed them baby food. If you look at the video, when I point out the food, the pink stuff is banana baby food. Here is a video of our terrarium and geckos.

Skiing
On the first week of winter break, I went down hill skiing. My brother did lessons, but I did not because I have been skiing for 3 years. We ski at Highland Ski & Snowboard Area. I own my own skis, which are red. I like to go fast, but not to fast that I am no longer in control. My favorite hills are called "Big Foot" and the main hill, Central. Here is a video of me skiing - I am towards the end and I am wearing a blue jacket.

Weekend News
This weekend on Friday, my dad and I went to our cabin in Barns Wisc. It is a 4 hour trip. On Saturday morning we went to a restaurant called the Norske Nook. I had a omelet and hot chocolate. Later that day, we went snowshoeing. We snowshoed on the shore of the lake that had it least 6 in. of solid ice. We also snowshoed around our property. On Sunday morning my dad and I had a breakfast of Apple Pancake. Around 10:00 that day, we started heading home. On the way home, we stopped at a place called the Chattering Squirrel. I had a brownie. That night my whole family went to dinner together.

Multi-Genera Project Update
I have just finished my first project. It was a letter to a car company (possibly Toyota) about hybrids. My second project is going to be a power point about cars fueled on used vegetable oil. I am on the research part of the writing process. In this process, I hope to find some interesting facts. I also hope to find out how the engine works. In the week of the 14th, I hope to finish my research and start my rough draft.

My Writing Project
In my multi-genera writing project, I have finished my first project, but I just need to print it out. It was a letter to a car company (possibly Toyota), and it was about hybrids. My second project which is about cars fueled on used frying oil is going to be a power point, I am researching to find information. I am making a bubble map of facts and then I will put those facts into organized slides.
Weekend News
This weekend on Saturday I had a swimmeet in North Field. I had to wake up at 5:30 to get to the 7:20 warm-up. I only swam one day of the two days you could swim. At the swimmeet I swam the 100 I.M, the 50 back, the 50 breast, and the 100 free. I beat my best time in the 100 free! Later that day I had my piano lesson at McPhail. That night I had stuffing with turkey in it. The next morning I got to sleep in! Later in the day I made buckeye cookies. Buckeyes are peanutbutter balls with powdered sugar mixed in, diped in chocolate. After that I did my homework. That night my family and I watched the Amazing Race like we do every Sunday. It was the last show of the sesion. The people I wanted to win won and they got the 1,000,000 dollar prize.

Dear Toyota
Dear Toyota, December 16, 2009
I am doing a write assignment about alternative fuels for cars. My first smaller topic is hybrids/full electric. What I know about hybrids is that if the road gets bumpy the hybrid switches to gas. On some new hybrids you can manly switch the car to gas or electricity. My favorite hybrids are the Toyota Prius and the Toyota Highlander. I like the Toyota Highlander because of the style and that it is a SUV that gets good mileage. I like the Toyota Prius because I like the design. Also I like the fact that it is quiet. I like the back-up camera and the touch screen. I hope that hybrids will become a very popular way to fuel your car. Some questions I have are… What do you do with the batteries when they no longer work? How long do the batteries last? One question I have for a full electric car is… How do you measure electricity in mpg? For example a Chevy Volt is supposed to get about 200-250 mpg. Please write me back and answer my questions.
